Dear Book Friends,
How did we get to July already? I swear it was April about five minutes ago.
Now it’s somehow summer, the days are warm, and I’m already seeing back-to-school supplies in stores, which feels both wildly premature and somehow inevitable.
The middle of the year always makes me a little reflective.
Not in a “new year, new me” kind of way—I gave up on that years ago—but in a “huh... what have I been enjoying lately?” kind of way.
The answer, unsurprisingly, is still stories.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what keeps me coming back to the same kinds of books, shows, and music over and over again.
I love watching people choose each other.
Not because everything is easy, but because it isn’t.
Give me two (or four... I do write reverse harem, after all) people who decide they’re in this together, and then throw every possible obstacle in their path.
Family expectations. Magic. Monsters. The end of the world. Terrible communication skills.
I eat that up every single time.
It probably explains why so many of my books end up revolving around found family, impossible bonds, and people discovering where they belong.
Apparently I have a type.
